We have updates from all the CIF-SS and L.A. City playoff semifinals that were played throughout the area.

SEMIFINALS

DIVISION 1

Final: Mater Dei 36, Centennial 7

The Division 1 championship game is set. Mater Dei (11-0) will play St. John Bosco (11-1) for the program’s 14th CIF Southern Section football championship on Friday, Nov. 29 at Veterans Stadium in Long Beach. Monarchs senior cornerback Daryus Dixson (Penn State commit) picked off Centennial senior quarterback Husan Longstreet (USC commit) for a 32-yard interception return for a touchdown late in third quarter.

Final: St. John Bosco 20, Orange Lutheran 17

St. John Bosco freshman quarterback Koa Malau’ulu leads the Braves to the Division 1 championship game. Orange Lutheran cut Bosco’s lead 20-17 late in the fourth quarter. Malau’ulu scored on a 39-yard touchdown run in the first half. Bosco junior cornerback Joshua Holland (USC commit) had an interception. Bosco coach Jason Negro’s postgame interview previews the rematch against Mater Dei.

DIVISION 2

Final: Murrieta Valley 55, Oaks Christian 52, OT

Murrieta Valley senior quarterback Bear Bachmeier (Stanford commit) scored a game-winning 12-yard touchdown run in overtime. Oaks Christian led 21-7 late in the second quarter. Murrieta Valley rallied in the second half to force overtime. Murrieta Valley will host Newbury Park in the Division 2 championship game.

Final: Newbury Park 20, Yorba Linda 14

Newbury Park junior quarterback Brady Smigiel (Florida State commit) scored on a 15-yard touchdown run to go up 20-7 in the third quarter. Newbury Park improved to 13-0.

DIVISION 3

Final: Simi Valley 28, Loyola 25

Simi Valley survives and advances to the Division 3 championship game.

Final: Edison 42, Vista Murrieta 14

Edison will host Simi Valley in the Division 3 championship game.
