AMD FSR 4 and Advancements with RDNA 4 Architecture
In a press-only presentation about the new GPUs, AMD did not reveal any official specifications or performance benchmarks. However, it disclosed that the RDNA 4 architecture will feature optimized CU cores, second-generation AI accelerators, and third-generation ray tracing accelerators.
According to AMD, the Radeon RX 90 series will also offer improved encoding quality with the second generation of Radiance Display Engine accelerators.
Additionally, AMD officially announced FSR 4, which will include AI-based upscaling powered by machine learning, similar to NVIDIA’s DLSS. This feature will be exclusive to RDNA 4 GPUs with the new AI acceleration cores. As a result, AMD’s new upscaling technology promises higher image quality and better performance with Super Resolution and frame generation.
As usual, AMD has confirmed that partners such as ASUS, Sapphire, XFX, ASRock, and Gigabyte, among others, will release their own models in the first quarter of this year.
