My introduction to writing was unintentional. I never planned to write a book, but as I took notes on my father’s memoirs, the idea of transforming them into a book gradually took shape. My father, one of the first South Asian immigrants to arrive in 1950s England, the extraordinary story of an ordinary man book that must be told. I realized I was documenting the last voices of a generation of immigrants from India and Pakistan who significantly changed the course of life for future generations.
